    Unhappy Garage Speakers

Picked up an inexpensive, very low end set of Sony Book shelf speakers and blew one of them within a couple weeks!!!I knew better....but the wife put a hold on my electronic goodies that have a decent price tag. What would be a set under $150.00 for the pair?I am only going to use the two speakers with a cheap Sony DVD PLAYER($29.99 and used to play CD's)and my old Yamaha Digital receiver.I know what I want, but I know absolutely nothing about "entry level" speakers that I am being forced to purchase!lol

    Hey, welcome back, Dukus!

I admit I am not a big aficionado of cheap speakers, but it's hard to go wrong with a nice entry-level pair of speakers from Klipsch, Polk or Boston Acoustics. One way you can shave off a bit from the cost is to go with an "open box" pair of speakers from OneCall. I've purchased their open box stuff before and it is literally impossible to distinguish them from a factory-sealed pair of speakers and is covered by the full warranty. Here's a link to a nice pair of Polks TSi100s for "$150... ish" (actually $169.92 with free shipping). This is about $30 less than you can get them anywhere else.

Polk TSi100 (open box) at OneCall.com

You can go even cheaper with the Polk Monitor 30s on Amazon (about $112 including shipping), but for the extra $55/pr. the TSi100 is a superior loudspeaker well worth the money, which can go a little bit deeper in the bass. Either would be a good choice for the money.

    Hope that helps.
