    Default panasonic dmpbd35ak player

I noticed that Costco has the panasonic dmpbd35ak player for $229.00 if you use the $50.00 off coupon. My question is what does the "ak" stand for and is it the same player as the dmpbd35 ? I know this model comes with a free hdmi cable, but I don't know if there is something else that is different about this model. I ask at a local electronics store and they said there was a difference, but they couldn't tell me what it was. Were they trying to get me to buy from them, or is there really a difference?

K means black. The A is probably there so that Costco doesn't have to price match matching model numbers. It's the same player.

As Peter said, it's the same player. Different outlets will sometimes use variations on the model number. Also, at Costco, the player comes with an HDMI cable that Costco adds into the box, hence the different model number on the box. I bet the actual unit inside the box still says DMP-BD35K on it.

The DMP-BD35, DMP-BD35K and DMP-35AK are all the same player and it will be around for a while longer as Panasonic's new Blu-ray players just announced here at CES won't be out for several months. The BD35 will be replaced with the BD60 which adds VIERA Cast (IPTV) functionality but otherwise looks pretty similar to the BD35.
