Default Panasonic bdp85 or Sony s1000es

    Hello,

New to the forum, been reading up and getting really great information from everyone on the site. I am looking to purchase an additional blu ray player and am torn between the panasonic bdp85 and the Sony s1000es (which I believe is a rebadged s760).

Doing some research I found that most people have complained that he Sony is good but over priced. However it is now being sold at a price comprable to the panasonic on amazon. I am more concerned about picture quality/sd upconversion than features. I am aware the panasonic has more features over the Sony.

I appreciate any information you can provide.

    Thanks!

We haven't tested that specific Sony player, but I can tell you that the performance of the Panasonic BD85 is excellent, both on audio and video, with some fairly unique features like an advanced chroma processor for DVDs and Blu-ray Discs (revised in the BD85), and a jitter purifier which actually provides a more stable digital audio clock that can improve audio performance not only over the multi-channel analog outputs, but also over PCM and bitstream outputs over HDMI. The user interface needs work (hasn't been significantly updated since the first gen players), but for price/performance, it's a tough player to beat both in audio and video performance.

    Full review coming soon.
