    Angry Internet Service Test

My Samsung BD-P4600 will not pass the last Network Connection Test called "Internet Service Test". There has been no one that could answer this for me so anything will be great!!!

Some details about how you are trying to connect would be good.

    • Are you hard-wired or WiFi?
    • If WiFi, have you tried plugging in a cable to your router to see if the behavior is different?
    • Are you using the Samsung dongle?
    • What kind of router are you using?
    • Does the player find the SSID of your router?
    • Do you have any security on your network? If so, what kind?
    • Are you using fixed IP address or dynamic IP?
    • If dynamic (DHCP) Are the IP and DSN values being populated or no?

Simply giving the error message isn't enough to figure out what might be going wrong but if you give some details about your connection, we might be able to help you debug the problem.

    I'm useing the wifi.
My house was wiered for audio so all the componets are on one side of the house and my computer is on the other so there is no way to run a cable to it.
Yes I'm useing the dongle and it pick's up my router pretty easy.
    Im use a linksys router.
I belive so because I can use netflicks and pandora just fine but not Blockbuster or Youtube.
i have a pass code but I belive thats it.
Im not sure about the IP thing nor do I know how to check???
Thank's for any and all help!!!!

OK, so your player is able to access Netflix content and Pandora content no problem but fails with YouTube and Blockbuster Video on Demand? What happens when you try to access YouTube? Do you get an error of any kind?

In terms of switching to static address mode instead of dynamic mode (DHCP), you should first write down the numbers that are being assigned to the player automatically (which you can view on the network set-up screen), IP address, gateway, subnet mask. Then go to your PC or laptop (one which is able to access the internet), Hit "Start... Run" and type "CMD" to enter the command line. Then type ipconfig /all - the values you are looking for here are "DNS Servers" - write down the first two of these that are listed.

Now switch over to "static" or "fixed" Network settings on the Samsung. For IP address, add 10 to the one that was dynamically assigned (e.g., if the address assigned by your router was 192.168.1.105, then put 192.168.1.115 as the IP address). Just be careful not to use an IP Address that is already in use in your network to prevent conflicts. Set the gateway and subnet masks exactly as they were. Then in the Domain Name Servers (DNS), specify the ones that you found on your PC when you did the ipconfig/all.

Try the network test again and see if it works. Some clients/routers don't play nice together and may get bad DNS values. This can prevent the player from accessing any domains without already knowing their IP addresses. If you hardcode these DNS values manually then you can sometimes bypass any DNS problems.
