    Default Sony N460/LG 390/Panasonic BD60/80

    Hi Chris,
Now that all these players has been reviewed on this site, can you tell us which one is the faster player? Boot up, and loding discs? Would like to know the time differences between them all as well if possible.

As always, thanks for all your help!

Very good suggestion, and I think I'll post something with the times for all of the current players on the forum after I compile it all together, including the OPPO and maybe even the Denon 2010 we just received.

I need to re-measure one of the current generation Panasonic post-firmware 2.0 before posting that list, but I think the boot-up time on the Sony N460 is quickest at around 5 seconds (with Quck Start mode enabled). The LG boots up in around 20 seconds and I think the Panasonic was close to that. For Disc loading, the LG is the fastest overall, loading a standard DVD in 13 seconds, Blu-ray in 14 seconds and BD-JAVA Blu-ray (Pirates of the Caribbean 1) in 32 seconds. The Sony was not far behind at 13 seconds to load a DVD, 20 seconds to load a non-JAva Blu-ray and also 32 seconds to load "Pirates."

The Panasonic players were initially much slower at 21 seconds for a DVD, 41 seconds for a Blu-ray and 52 seconds for BD-Java Blu-ray (also "Pirates"). But Firmware 2.0 sped things up about 20 %. So I *think* the load times for the post-2.0 BD60/BD80 will be around 17 seconds for DVD, 33 seconds for a plain BD and 42 seconds for "Pirates" BD, but let me do some more measurements before you quote me on that.
