Default Playback problems on new Bond Blu-ray Discs (Dr. No, etc.)

Seems like a lot of people are having playback problems with the new Bond Blu-ray Discs with certain players. Specifically the Samsung BD-P1500 and LG BH200 have been mentioned repeatedly as having problems, and apparently Samsung and LG plan to fix this in upcoming firmware upgrades.

I thought it would be good to have a thread for people to report their experiences. I will keep this first post updated as more people report their experiences. If you have specific problems, please note the movie, your player (make/model) and the firmware release of your player if you know it or can find it.

I can tell you that I have had no problems in playback on the Panasonic DMP-BD55 and Sony PS3 and we've also tested on the Panny BD35 and the Samsung BD-P2500 - all fine.

    Known "good" players:
    • Panasonic DMP-BD30
    • Panasonic DMP-BD35 (firmware 1.5)
    • Panasonic DMP-BD50
    • Panasonic DMP-BD55 (firmware 1.1 and 1.5)
    • Samsung BD-P2500
    • Sony BDP-S350 (firmware 07.4.010)
    • Sony PS3 (PlayStation 3)
    Known "bad" players:
    • Samsung BD-P1000
    • Samsung BD-P1200
    • Samsung BD-P1400 (still does not play "For Your Eyes Only" with Firmware 1.9)
    • Samsung BD-P1500
    • LG BH200

I can tell you that I have had no problems in playback on the Panasonic DMP-BD55 and Sony PS3. Brandon has tried them on the Sony BDP-S350, and he also has a BD35 in for review right now.

Brandon - can you pop these in and see if you have any problems on the BD35 and Sony S350 and confirm the firmware versions of your BD35 and BDP-S350?

Well, I've gone through both sets on the Sony S350 w/ very latest firmware 07.4.010 and I haven't had a problem with any. I'll try them on the BD35 with the latest firmware (1.5) as soon as I can and see what happens.

Okay, I've tested all six films on the BD35 (firmware 1.5) and they played without any issues. It seems the BD35 is indeed a "safe" player for the Bond titles.

    Default Samsung BD-P1400 Issue

For Your Eyes Only will not play on the Samsung BD-P1400 with the latest firmware Rev Version 1.9. This is the lastest version referenced on the Samsung support site.

Hopefully Samsung will upgrade their firmware soon.
