    Default Showcase storage expander

    Yes, it is truly wonderful when it works. After I transferred several movies from my DVR to the Seagate, it began refusing to be seen. Right now it is unplugged and may have to become a doorstop.

    Wow. The Showcase drive isn't even generally available yet. How did you manage to get one already? It must be new enough that it's covered by the warranty. Have you contacted Seagate or the place you bought it to get service?

    Or are you talking about some other model Seagate drive?

    I'm virtually certain it is a Showcase. I got it in January because it is supposed to be compatible with Dish Network's DVRs. Yes, it should be still under warranty and I will call the support folks, but I am a bit irritated because I keep reading online that Seagate knew the drives had this problem of "sleeping" and didn't do anything about it.
