Default Panasonic TC-P55VT30 Plasma Color Fix by Panasonic (Chris please help)....

    Chris,

Knowing you have contacts with Panasonic, I was hoping you had some feedback on Panasonic working on a color fix for the VT30 displays. The colors in Custom mode, THX is pretty spot on, is known to be off and not as close as the Samsung displays even though the VT30's are ahead in overall performance. I just had my new 55" VT30 delivered yesteray and can't believe the PQ . Still I can see what the reviewers and many folks posting on other HDTV forum are talking about when saying the colors are impossible to adjust to be spot on. Someone over on another AVS said Pansonic was actually 99% there but was even working with professional calibrators that still didn't think it was quite good enough so Panasonic is supposedly waiting unitl they get it 100% right which I highly give a huge thumbs up on.

Do you know anything about this color fix by Panasonic or hopefully when it might be available. This fix I feel would put the VT30's from the best to a reference level display especially with Panasonic recently fixing the fluctuating brightness issue known at FBr. They fixed it with August and later builds and very happy my display arrived with an August build. Also someone posted saying Panasonic said it was fixed in all s/n's starting after LL1215 with mine starting with MJ.

Would love to know if you could find out from your any information on the color fix from your Panasonic contacts.

    Thanks,
    Robert

    Hi, Robert,

Unfortunately my contacts at Panasonic Japan are mostly on the Blu-ray side of the house. Panasonic is a huge company and their display division is entirely separate, and my efforts to develop a contact there, on the engineering side of the house haven't resulted in much. I know that the primary color points are not perfect on the Panasonic plasmas, but it's the kind of thing that is rarely noticeable watching actual content. I wouldn't obsess over it. Just enjoy the TV! If you feel the color accuracy is not ideal, then I'd suggest reporting it to them via customer service.

Sorry but I don't really have any "ins" on the TV side so I can't really offer anything other than that.

    Regards,

    -Chris

Thanks Chris, I actually can't believe the amazing PQ of my new VT30 55" and I've only watched for a few hours last night. I'm more trying to put some light on the AVS forum with those droaning on and on about the colors not being good enough. I'm going to have mine ISF calibrated after 1,000 or more hours so sure it will be spot on then even if off now. I'm amazed at the PQ in THX mode. You can definitely see the Pioneer influence within the design. Bravo to Panasonic for buying Pioneer's IP. Really this brought them up and past Samsung that has been leading the plasma PQ battle the last few years. The single pane of glass is awesome as well. Not understanding all the reviewers liking the Samsung 8000 design since my wife and I thought it was ugly compared to the Panasonic VT30's. I guess each his own so to speak.

Thanks for replying back so quickly. Guess I'm becoming a Panasonic fan boy with 2 blu-ray players, a 32" LCD and now a 55" plasma.

    Robert
