Default Broken Mitsubishi TV and i'm basically being blamed.

Ok so about two years ago my mom leased a used 60" Mitsubishi DLP television from the local Aaron's. Around the same time last year we had the lamp go out on me. I was not at home when the repair man came to fix the television but from what i was told he placed all the blame from the bulb going out on my Xbox 360. My family happily informed me of this. Just last week the tv went out again and guess what they blamed it on.......... my Xbox. I started researching and found out that DLP televisions are notorious for the lamp burning out almost like clock work. They also have an HD cable box connected to the tv that was constantly running but placed no blame on that. What can i do to prove to them that my Xbox is not the cause of the tv lamp burning out?

While your family may enjoy having a scapegoat for the bulb replacement, and it makes you the easy butt of jokes around the holiday dinner table, the fact is that any well-designed TV - plasma, LED, DLP or otherwise - can handle signals from any source: cable, satellite Blu-ray or gaming consoles, without excessive strain on the set's optical engine.

The single thing that makes a bulb replacement happen more frequently is not the source, but the settings on the TV itself. If you are running your Mitsubishi TV in "brilliant" mode, the bulb is running much hotter than it should and the hotter the bulb is run, the shorter the life. Set it instead into one of the movie modes and the bulb will last significantly longer.

Or get rid of it and get an LED or plasma set. These don't have bulbs and will generally last significantly longer under normal use.
