Default Panasonic DMP-BD50 available for Pre-order.

I'm seeing that the Panasonic DMP-BD50 BD player is available for pre-order at Crutchfield and Abt.

I know many people are highly anticipating this player, myself included.

Yup, and I have one in for review which I could get to if I stay in one place long enough. It's on Amazon.com too but at the moment only with overpriced marketplace sellers. Amazon's price is currently $599 delivered but they say 1-2 months for delivery:

    Panasonic DMP-BD50 on Amazon.com.

Well, I've been waiting on this player forever. They keep pushing back the release date though. I just wish they'd add a bitrate metre to it, like the one in the PS3 or the new Pioneer players so I could actually see what codecs are being used, and the exact sampling rate and bit depth for the audio mixes.

Hey, you should come on over and check it out. We're in the same damn borough after all, right?

If you still have it when I recover a bit, and if I don't decide to jump on one of the Sony's first (or the Panny I have pre-ordered doesn't decide to plop itself on my doorstep magically) I just may take you up on that.

I like my Panasonic DVR and I'll keep paying for the warranty until it croaks.

I'm saving soda cans for deposit so I can buy something more high tech.

    Jeff,

Are you just trying to go for the world record number of posts before the forum is officially launched? Because I think you're in the lead.
