MCACC should be automatic. Just hold the microphone in the listening position, keep quiet, and let it run through its procedure. It should automatically set the delay, speaker sizes, crossover, etc. for optimum results. Are you saying it doesn't sound good after you've run it through the calibration process?

hi, after i run the auto mcacc, it show all speakers as large, i have to manually make them small so the sw does the base.but if you want to do the "expert mcacc" or "manual mcacc, the directions get wierd in the manual.it is not done in a step by step basis.i undestand the "front align" and the eq settings, all channel adjust, but i dont think i am using the mcacc to its fullest potential.thanks for your help, regards , nick

    Hi, Nick,

Well if MCACC sets all speakers to large, and most of your speakers are not, then something is amiss. BTW, even with all speakers LARGE, you will get bass out of the subwoofer, but it will only be the bass from the LFE track (the ".1" channel). If you want to also route the front, center and surround channel bass signals to your subwoofer than, as you said, the speakers should be set to small.

Depending on how large your front towers are (and how deep they extend), large may actually be the right setting for those but the others do sound like they'd be better off with the low bass crossed over and re-routed to the sub.

If you've set the MCACC multiple times, and played around with the parameters manually then it's possible that the receiver has stored some settings that are inaccurate and you *may* need to do a hardware reset on the receiver in order to get back to a blank slate. On your receiver I believe you do that by pressing the "av parameter" and "standby" buttons together. But this may also lose things like HDMI input assignments as well as any other customization you have done so keep that in mind if you try it.

Your best bet might be to call Pioneer support, but also try the owner's thread for your receiver on AVSForum. There are a lot of smart guys over there and I'm sure you'll get no shortage of suggestions on how to address this.

    Regards,
