Default Pioneer vsx-520k and Yamaha speakers ns-sp18000bl 5.1 speakers

Mr Boylan...long time no see...I just bought this two items on Amazon ( through your link) for a friend of mine who was on an extremely tight budget, question is about the speaker impedance... The speakers are rated 6 ohm and the receiver 8ohm ( the manual states 6-16 ohm )....so I'm kind of confused, are these speakers good for this receiver??
Hope you get the referral from the purchase, last time we had an issue with some orders not showing up for you..

    Thanks...

I see them in the reports for yesterday. Thanks! And actually those speakers should work fine with that receiver. The 6 ohm rating on the speakers just means they will draw a little more power from the receiver than they would if they were 8 ohm speakers (less resistance). The receiver's output power varies depending on the resistance of the speakers - if a receiver is rated as "80 watts per channel" then it will actually put out less power if you speakers present a 16 ohm load, and it will put out more power if the speakers present a 4 ohm or 6 ohm average load. Some cheap amps can have problems with very low resistance speakers as they're not designed for that kind of load. But since the manual specifically states that the receiver is "guaranteed" to drive a load anywhere from 6 ohms to 16 ohms, it's very unlikely you'll have any problems.

Should be a nice little budget system and I'm sure it will kick the ass of many cheap HTiBs. BTW, did you get the free Bluetooth receiver that Amazon is offering right now on that receiver?

Free Bluetooth Adapter with Purchase of Select Pioneer Receivers

Nice little bonus as it allows you to connect any Bluetooth-enabled media player to the receiver wirelessly for music playback. You need to add both items to your cart with Amazon.com as the seller and the Bluetooth adapter cost ($70) will be credited in your cart at checkout. If you didn't add it to your cart, then you might want to cancel the order for the receiver and re-do it via the above link.

    Good luck!

Ohhh my... I didn't realize about the free bluetooth...
He was actually going to get a 250 dollars HTIB in Best Buy, pretty crappy in my opinion... A very similar set up was going for 380 in best buy but with an older receiver that doesn't play the new sound codecs, he was very glad he saved good money with this package.

    Thanks again
